New Life

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

(Romans 3:23)

Salvation is for everyone who seeks it, with a sincere heart.

It does not matter who you are, what your background is, or what you have done wrong. If you turn from your old ways, and fully commit to living in the Love that Jesus taught, you are born into a new life, with a new hope, a new mission and a new destination.

There is not a person among us who is perfect — none. We all at some point mess up, hurt others, act selfish, and fail to live up to the potential for righteousness that God planted in us. While we are made part of a perfect creation, our own will and desire often conflicts with God’s perfection and creates disharmony.

The beautiful and miraculous truth is, we don’t have to stay that way.

We have a choice. We can choose to acknowledge our faults, work to correct them, seek a better path, and live in harmony with God. We can also choose to deny our wrongs, refuse to admit our failures, continue pursuing our own wants, and leave wreckage around us.

Left to our own devices, we often choose the latter, then we wonder why our lives are so frustrating and disappointing.

Jesus teaches us the answer — Love. When we choose the light of Christ, and a life of Love, we put off the old garments, wash ourselves, and begin living a new life, in a new spirit. Baptism is much more than a dip in the water. It is symbolic of the renewal of our minds and hearts, of washing away our former sinful selves, and emerging fresh and clean into the world, with new purpose.

We have all sinned, but not everyone turns from it. Will you?
