Done Wrong

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”

(James 5:16)

When we do wrong, we know it. God knows it, too.

It doesn’t matter how well we hide it, how hard we try to deny it, or how slight a wrong might be. Wrong is wrong, and it weighs on our hearts and minds, whether we acknowledge it or not.

We will never find the freedom of true spiritual peace, until we correct the things that are not right in our lives. If we are to have peace, we must right our wrongs. We must heal those parts of us that are broken by our own choices and actions.

While we may be hurt by the wrongs of others, we have the ability to forgive and release that type of hurt. However, the wrongs that we do to ourselves and others, we can’t let go until they’re made right.

The Bible teaches the first step is to confess the wrong. Confession is more than just idle words. We must admit to God and to ourselves that we have done wrong, otherwise we are just living a lie.

Confession also means admitting the wrong to those who have been wronged. Admitting it only to ourselves will not suffice because there will always be a remnant of guilt and shame.

The Bible teaches we are to admit our wrongs to each other, before we pray for each other. Prayer will have no effect, if we do not first get our hearts right with God and with our fellow human beings.

However, if we are sincere and diligently confess our wrongs to each other, and then pray for one another, we will find healing.
